Structuring images in studies

Before image analysis can begin, images must be added to a study. The new database provides full flexibility when creating a new study, allowing studies to be created either before images are available, or during/after the image import process.

Create study during import

  1. Steps 1-4 described in the Import Images section must be completed first.

  2. When the import is completed, click Add to Study, and the Add to Folder dialog opens.

  3. In the Add to Folder dialog, create the desired folder structure by clicking on New Folder.

New folders will be created under the selected folder. Once the folder structure has been created, select the folder where the images will be added.

  1. Click OK.

Create study from the image tab

  1. Select the images to be added to a study. This can be done in one of the following ways:

    1. Ctrl + Click on the desired images.
    2. Click and hold. Mark the images to select.
    3. Select the first image and then Shift + Click on the last image.
    4. Ctrl + A to select all the images visible in the content area.
  2. Right-click on the images and select Add Selected Images to Folder.

  3. In the Add to Folder dialog create the desired folder structure by clicking on New Folder.

New folders will be created under the selected folder. Once the folder structure has been created, select the folder where the images will be added.

  1. Click OK.

Create study before images are imported

  1. Click on the studies tab.

  2. Right-click in the content area and select New Folder from the menu.

  3. Name the folder and press enter.

  4. Select the newly created folder and create another folder under it.

The study has now been set up, and images can be added to the folder either from the images tab or during the image import process to the database.

Deleting a folder

  1. Click on the studies tab.

  2. In the navigation area, navigate to the desired folder.

  3. Right-click on the folder and select Delete from the menu.

  4. A confirmation window will appear to ensure that nothing is deleted by mistake. The dialog will display any subfolders contained within the folder marked for deletion. To proceed with deletion, click OK. To cancel, click Cancel.

The images in the folder will not be deleted. To delete an image, it must be removed under the images tab.

  1. The folders and all analysis results associated with the study have now been deleted.

Copying a folder

  1. Click on the studies tab.

  2. Navigate to the folder or subfolder to copy.

  3. Right-click on the folder and select Copy from the menu.

  4. A new window will appear, allowing navigation to the folder where the study should be copied into. Select the desired destination folder by left-clicking on it.

  5. Press the Copy button to complete the copying.

Pressing the 'copy' button will complete the copying of the 'Breast Cancer' into the 'FirstTimeDatabase' folder.

If the results attached to the study should also be copied, check the box Include non-overlay results.

Moving folders or studies

  1. Click on the studies tab.

  2. Navigate to the folder or subfolder to move it.

  3. Right-click on the folder and select Move from the menu.

  4. A new window will appear, allowing navigation to the folder where the study should be moved. Select the desired destination folder by left-clicking on it.

  5. Press the Move button to complete the moving.
